About the Event
We invite you to join us for this innovative Straight Talk seminar as our guests demonstrate how easy it can be to prepare brain and body-healthy foods. Our guests will focus on promoting a healthy lifestyle through proper nutrition and will share some great ideas for meal planning for one or two people.
As we get older, it seems to get harder to prepare meals. We’ve convinced ourselves that it takes too much time and effort to cook for one or two people, so instead we go to the store and grab the frozen or boxed meals that are ultra-processed, and certainly not good for us.
We’ll have fun as our guests prepare some samples for you to snack on and taste. In addition, you’ll learn:
- How to avoid ultra processed foods—the rules of thumb to follow
- How cooking at home lessens concerns for those with memory issues
- How three appliances are all you need to prepare healthy meals!
- How to read nutrition labels
- What kind of pantry list you should have to make shopping easier
- And much more!
Our guests will be Dr. Patricia Quinlisk, Medical Director for the Iowa Dementia Prevention Program, and Lisa LaValle, Chef with the Iowa Dementia Prevention Program and Chef at the Trellis Restaurant at the Des Moines Botanical Center.
You won’t want to miss this special presentation.   RSVPs are highly recommended.  Seating is limited.  When we reach the maximum registrations, registration will be closed.
